When it comes to local SEO, Google Business Profile (GMB) posts play a huge role. These posts serve as short updates that can appear directly in Google Search and Maps, helping you engage customers and improve visibility.
But are you making the most of them? In this guide, you'll learn how to write GMB posts using efficient SEO techniques to support your local ranking efforts and improve visibility. Overview: GMB Post SEO Best Practices
Title Optimization
The title should have the keyword
And that keyword also started the caption
The first letter of the title should be capitalized (rest will be in normal case)
Example: Digital Marketing Course in Indore - Join Now
Use keywords in the first line of the description in a natural way
Meaning write it in a way that it doesn't look awkward
Example: Looking for the best digital marketing course in Indore? Join us for practical training...
Hashtags
Use 4-5 hashtags in every post
Hashtags should be your keywords or variations of them
Example: #DigitalMarketingCourse #IndoreTraining #MarketingClasses #LearnSEO
Call to action (CTA) is a must at the end of the caption
Like: Enroll Now!, Contact Us Today!, Book Your Seat!
Add keyword block at the end of the caption (up to 3 keywords)
Can be a simple bullet or comma-separated
Example:
Keywords: Google Business Profile Post SEO, GMB Post SEO Best Practices, Keyword Strategy for GMB Posts, SEO-Friendly GMB Descriptions, GMB Keyword Block Example, How to Write a GMB Update, Optimize GMB Post Titles, Image SEO for GMB Posts, Local SEO GMB Tips.
Image optimization
Image should be geo-targeted (related to location)
Image file name should be proper keyword-based, eg: digital-marketing-course-indore.jpg
Image format should be jpeg/jpg so that we can add description, tags, subject, title
Best Practices to Use Keywords for Google Business Posts
How many times should I put the keyword in every post?
Use the main keyword 2-3 times naturally in the post.
Meaning once in the title, once in the beginning or middle of the description, and once at the end of the caption or in the keyword block.
Do not do over-stuffing (do not put the same keyword 23 times). Google considers it spam.
Where should I put keywords?
Title: One time main keyword (service + location) (Primary keyword)
Description First Line: One time main keyword naturally (Primary keyword)
Description (Rest of Caption): 1-2 bar related keywords/variations (Secondary keyword + related variations)
Hashtags: Keyword or its variation in 3-5 hashtags (Mix of Primary, Secondary, and Last keywords)
Caption End: Block of 3 keywords (main + variation) after Call to Action (Primary, Secondary, and Last keywords (3 total))
Image File Name: One time main keyword variation (Primary keyword)
Image Alt Text (If possible): (Secondary or last keyword variation)
Should I use the same keyword in every post, or are there variations?
Bring a little variation to every post.
Example:
Post 1: " Google Business Profile Post SEO"
Post 2: "GMB Post SEO Best Practices"
Post 3: "Keyword Strategy for GMB Posts"
Post 4: "Local SEO GMB Tips"
